The kit

This kit is part of the Eduard Brassin resin line. The parts are cast in a medium grey resin. Sink marks and flash are non-existant. There are two bodies, four wings and another 4 fins, for a total of 10 parts - enough to make two complete missiles. There is a clearly printed set of instructions with a simple construction guide, painting call outs for Gunze Aqueous acrylic and Mr. Color lacquer paints, plus a decal placement guide. The decals are thin and applied well, settling down nicely with a few applications of Microscale Microsol solution. Unfortunately the yellow stripes were not as well printed as the black images.

Panel lines a nicely engraved. The parts, as to be expected with most resin kits, come attached to their pour plugs. The body pieces have rather large plugs and they're located right on the nose area, so removing the plugs will need some special attention to avoid damaging the body. Be careful sanding the nubs that are left behind so the nose's contour isn't altered. And another word of caution: care is needed when handling the missile to not break the very thin and fragile fairings found at the rear body near the engine outlet. Trust me on this as I broke them both during my first build attempt. It's a good thing there are two kits included!

The model can be built in either of two options. The first is in stowed mode, with the wings tucked under the body and the fin folded to the left. The other option is flying mode for which the wings are extended from the body and the fin is upright, the option I chose. Unfortunately no stand or wing pylon is provided for either build option, forcing the builder to source or manufacture their own. I made a simple stand to display the built kit, and painted it olive drab.

The only real issue I have with the kit is the lack of infomation regarding the angle of sweep for the wings when deployed, so check your sources and mount them as best as you can.

Conclusion

Another excellent detail set from Eduard. The resin is next to flawless. It makes into a nice display model all by itself or as an under wing store. The only item missing from the set is a pylon to mount the missile. That will have to be sourced elsewhere by the modeller.
